so it's been awhile....

my five years in seattle have come to an end...and somehow now I find myself sitting here on the east coast, in DC.   I miss you all back in seattle!!!  Thank you for all the great times, good memories, I'll never forget...  keep in touch, alright?

I can't believe this is happening, but it is...my dream is coming true~!  I just finished the first week of medical school...four more years and I'll really be 'dr. kay.'  heehee.  Classes so far have been embryology and gross anatomy....already been slicing up dead people.  it's absolutely fascinating seeing the inside of our bodies....but I won't go into detail cuz I know a lot of people get squeamish.

hope everyone is doing well back in seattle!

H a p p y T h a n k s g i v i n g !!!

I hope that everyone is able to spend today with people they care about.  I know I will be!    Even though I can't go home to have dinner with my parents, I will be having a feast here with my other "family"- Miyo, Mizuki, Daigo, and Kuni along with some of their friends.  I wish that others could be here to....Jocelyn, Grace, and other friends.....but I know that they'll be having feasts of their own, so I'm happy.

ANd of course.....CONGRATS to the girls of SIGMA PSI ZETA RHO CHARTER!!!!!  woohoo, you guys made it!!!!!  I'm so happy for you all!!

on a brighter note...this SUNDAY is JOCELYN's birthday!!  if you know her,  give her a call or somethin and wish her a happy b-day!

!viva el MEXICO!

went down to mexico the other day, for a little day trip.  it was muchos fun.  we took the trolley to the border and then walked across to tijuana. there were lots of little shops.. selling stuff like jewelry, mexican blankets, leather goods, and all sorts of other things.  i bought my roommates and i a BIG bottle of kahlua down there so we need to have a little celebration after we all move in

...and then there was poverty...

you hear about how poor mexico is...but when you actually see it, it's absolutely heartbreaking.  little kids, who are only three or four, scamper up to you saying "chiclets, chiclets?" trying to sell you gum.  and they look up at you with those big brown eyes...so young, but already lacking that glimmer of youth.  and then there are the mothers...their infants wrapped in shawls and slung over their shoulders... who desparately dangle bracelets in front of your face as you try to walk by...

*sigh*....wish there was something i could do...

ahhh...japan...it was nice to be back

It was really hectic though...I got to see nearly all of my relatives, including a new member - my cousin's cute baby (hhehe, she walks like a chimp.)  I even got to see Wenday, Hiroki, and Jason while I was there.  We hung out one afternoon in shibuya...ate okonomiyaki/monjyayaki, crepes...checked out some shops...and saw this really scary-looking japanese girl that wendy said looked like a cannibal (ya know, the freakish ones that are super tan and have white makeup around their eyes??...i thought that fad had passed already...)

my mom's rich friend (seriously rich...a millionare) also took us out to this french restaurant.  it was *VERY* fine dining.  if only someone had told me that we were going there AHEAD OF TIME, i would have dressed properly!!!  yeah, i felt rather out of place in my jeans and sneakers...thank goodness the long table cloth covered it, though.  on our last night in japan, she also hooked us up with a room in a ritzy hotel...on the 17th floor...overlooking the tokyo bay and rainbow bridge.  it was.....WOW.  the whole thing was a good experience...getting a taste of the wealthy life and all...but it made me realize what it is in life that's most important to me.   it's not the money...but the things that money can't buy...love, friends...happiness.  in the hotel room that night, I thought about all of this, and realized that I would rather have a 'roommate dinner' with my girls than dine on french cuisine....that i'd rather cruise around with my babe in his ford than be chauffered around in a mercedes...  yeah, sure you need money to get by...but what matters most to me is the people I care about, its those people that bring me happiness
